Understanding Chiropractic

Is Chiropractic Right for You?

Not sure what a chiropractor actually does, or whether it is the right fit for you? Here is a clear, plain-English look at how we approach care, and how to decide if it suits you.

A Considered Approach

It's Not Just the Pain, It's What the Pain Stops You Doing.

Struggling with back pain, neck pain, sciatica or headaches? We understand the effect this kind of pain can have. Often it's not so much the pain itself, it's the inability to do the simple things you took for granted before it started, the things you need, want, and love to do.

The limits of quick fixes are real. You don't want to feel better only until the next tablet wears off, you want a longer-term solution. In fact, you don't just want to recover, you want to reclaim your time and get back to doing what you love.

Patching up the symptoms in the short term won't address the real cause.

What a Chiropractor Does

Addressing the Underlying Issue,
Not Just the Symptom.

The Symptom
The Pain You Feel

Back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, stiffness. These are real and frustrating, but they are often the surface of a mechanical problem. Easing them on their own tends to bring only temporary relief.

The Underlying Issue
How Your Spine & Joints Move

The underlying issue often sits in how your spine and joints are moving. We work to improve that movement and function, so your body has the best chance to settle the symptoms and keep them from coming back.

When your spine and joints are not moving well, it can show up as pain and stiffness. Improve how they move, and the symptoms often ease with them.

Not Sure Who You Should See?

Chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists all help people move and feel better, they just come at it differently. Here is a simple way to think about it, so you see the right person for your problem.

Chiropractic

Focuses on how your spine and joints are moving. A good fit when back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica or stiffness are tied to the way your body is moving, and you want the cause looked at, not just the symptom settled.

Physiotherapy

Well suited to a specific injury in an arm or leg, a rolled ankle, a sports strain, or hands-on rehab and exercise for a particular joint or muscle. If that sounds more like you, a physiotherapist is often the better first call.

Massage Therapy

Good for easing tight, overworked muscles and helping you recover and unwind. A remedial massage therapist who assesses you properly can be a real help on its own or alongside other care.

Genuinely unsure? That is what your first visit is for. Mark will assess you, tell you honestly whether chiropractic is the right fit, and if it is not, point you towards the practitioner who is.

Good to Know

Your Questions, Answered.

How long before I notice a difference?
Everyone's body and history is different, which is exactly why your first visit is a thorough assessment, so we can build a plan specific to you. Some people notice changes within their first few visits; longer-standing issues may need a more structured plan over time. Mark will explain what to expect for your situation, without overpromising.
Is it safe, and will it hurt?
Chiropractic care is widely used and, for most people, comfortable. Mark assesses you first and explains what he plans to do before he does it, and adjusts his approach to what suits you. If he does not think chiropractic is right for you, he will tell you and help point you in the right direction.
Will my health insurance cover it?
Many private health extras policies include some cover for chiropractic care, though the amount and conditions vary by provider and policy. We recommend checking directly with your insurer for your level of cover. No referral is required to book with us.
